Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: 2026-09-20

Not legal advice. This page is informational only. The disclosure language reflects our best-effort reading of Competition Bureau of Canada guidance and the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement. Consult a lawyer for compliance decisions specific to your situation.

Plain-language summary: Some links on HarvestGuide.ca are affiliate links. When you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the Site free to read. We do not test products. What we publish is what Bernardin and Canadian health authorities publish, with the page or URL cited.

Amazon Associates

HarvestGuide.ca is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases: when you click an Amazon link on the Site and complete a purchase on Amazon.ca, Amazon pays us a small percentage of the order value as a referral fee.

The required Amazon notice: “As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.”

How we mark affiliate links

Every Amazon affiliate link on the Site:

  • Carries rel="sponsored nofollow noopener", search-engine signals that it is a commercial link
  • Opens in a new tab so you don’t lose your place
  • When placed in a recommendation box, displays a visible Recommended badge and an inline disclosure line directly above the link

If a link is not marked as a recommendation box, it is either a citation (Bernardin, HealthLink BC, Public Health Ontario, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Statistics Canada) or an internal link. Those earn us nothing.

Other affiliate programs

At the time of this writing, Amazon Associates is the only affiliate program HarvestGuide.ca participates in. We may add others in the future; when we do, we will update this page and disclose them the same way.

What we do and do not do

We do not test products. We have no testing kitchen and no product testing programme. No product, tool or recipe on this Site has been hands-on tested by us.

What we do is read what the tested sources publish and report it accurately, citing the page number or the URL. When a figure is ours rather than a source’s, we say so. When no source we can reach publishes an answer, we say that too.

What we recommend is gear that meets what the tested sources specify: Bernardin metric jar sizes, canners that hold the pressure a tested recipe calls for, food mills with replaceable parts. Affiliate commissions do not decide what we recommend or what we say about it. If a recommendation turns out to be wrong, we update or remove it. The affiliate revenue does not buy permanence.

We have never received a product for review. If we ever do, we will disclose it inline on the relevant page.

Advertising

The Site displays third-party advertising through Google AdSense. Ads are labelled as advertising. We have no editorial role in which ads appear; the ad network decides, based on the page content and the visitor. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work and how to opt out.

Your choice

You are never required to use our affiliate links. If you would rather not, search the product name directly on Amazon.ca or buy from any retailer you prefer. The recommendations stand either way.

Food safety: HarvestGuide.ca publishes methods drawn from Health Canada and Bernardin. Home canning carries real risks, including botulism, if procedures, jar sizes, or processing times are altered. Always follow a tested recipe and adjust processing time for your altitude. This site is informational, and the information data is provided without warranty, and does not replace professional or regulatory advice.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Some links on this site are affiliate links — they cost you nothing extra and help keep the site free. We do not test products; we report what Bernardin and Canadian health authorities publish.
